nina mouritzen
*new favorite artist*

i just found nina through a blog of a blog of a blog of another artist. i think she is amazingg...please go to her website... http://www.ninamouritzen.com/. you will be amazed. her self portraits gave me a feeling i have not felt in a very long time when looking at someone elses personal work. it was the feeling that sends shivers down your spine and you cant stop looking at the image because its so provoking and inspiring. the color scheme of her images is what really attracts me and gives me that eerie feeling i love having when looking at art. i love the vulnerability they give off because its such a feeling i want to give in my own work because its a great feeling to have.

holga fashion

i found these images...artist unknown...and i am really inspired by them since i have begun to familiarize myself with the holga lately. i really want to continue using the holga because it is very my style, although i dont want to have it complete overtake the photograph. but working with the holga last semester, i have really developed a feel and a style for it. also recently, i have been working with a friend/photographer who does very avant-garde fashion self-portraits. since i have been working with her i have been inspired to steer in that direction of more abstract fashion images using myself, instead of more personal photos of my life. i want to keep the same style and subject, but take my concept into a different direction. i want to use this semester to explore different varieites of self-portraits and what i can do with myself in my images. the images above are really inspiring and i want to take them into consideration in my art.

intimate lust & excess
ever since i was informed of teller through a good friend of mine, something about his work keeps me going back to him. i have known about him but i never could pin point why i enjoy his work or what exactly it is that attracts me to him. teller's louis xv series is my favorite and the one that i can most relate to. i find i can relate to it because it reminds me of the self portrait series i did for george's class last semesterl; the polaroids with the harsh flash that created a voyeuristic feel to them. the first photograph of teller's (the one with the girls legs) is so intriguing to me. there are so many questions and answers that can be paired with that image. that is what i want to acheive with my images...questions that may or may not be answered. I want to combine voyeurism and uneasiness with the images i create this semester. i want to steer away from the more personal side of my work and make it more broad and vulnerable to the audience. i do want to stick wiht photographing myself, but not necessarily all nude. i feel like juergan does an amazing job getting this vulnerability across to his audience....
